What is Human Trafficking?
Human Trafficking is modern-day slavery, a violation of our human rights, commonly confused with Human Smuggling. Human Trafficking is the illegal exploitation of a person through force, fraud, and coercion (guilt), and Human Smuggling is the illegal transportation. As trafficking is a very profitable crime, victims can be of any race, gender, or age, and it can happen anywhere in the world, like big cities, suburbs, and even small towns.

The Different types of Human Trafficking
Sex Trafficking
---
Sex trafficking is when victims are forced into engaging in sex acts for money. These traffickers may use violence, threats, manipulation, promises of love, or effects to lure these victims in. The most common places victims are forced to sell sex would be truck stops, hotels/motels, rest areas, clubs, private residences, and even street corners.
Domestic Servitude
---
Domestic servitude, as in the name, are victims forced into serving others. These victims are often hidden in plain sight in homes nationwide, working as nannies, maids, or domestic helpers. Traffickers also limit their freedom by taking their identification papers and travel documents to force them to stay.
Forced Labor
---
Forced labor happens everywhere in the world. Traffickers use force, fraud, and coercion to make their victims work for little or no pay. These victims are forced to manufacture and grow the majority of the products we see and use every day. They can be found in factories, farms, construction and more.
